Restoring Our Communities Onward Forward

 Community
Unit Address

Dead Homies Dream  is an coalition dedicated implementing projects that involve economic and community development. Our latest upcoming project pertains to the 30th year anniversary for the Peace in the Hood Movement. As such, I would like to request your assistance. To rid Communities of gangs and gun violence we would benefit from your support. Community Units were developed due to federal injunctions that will not allow gang members on probation or parole to interact with each other without risking jail time. This project will ask justice departments, probation Officers, criminal Departments to recognize people that have been in “gangs” that participate in the Dreams of the Dead Homies as members of Community Units (CUs) and not gangs. This will allow former gang members to act as community leaders throughout the city.

STANDING ON THE FRONT LINE TO END GUN VILOENCE
COMMUNITY UNIT RULES:

01

Bandanas

All former gang members must wear a tricepter rag or three bandannas tied together. One will be a red bandana for Bloods, another will be white for peace, and the third will be blue for Crips. When tied together, this will to indicate a community leader and not a gang member.

02

Communication

Gatherings and communication between former gang members would be overseen by community organizers from the Dreams of the Dead Homies to ensure an agenda for peace talks and to help reintegrate former members into the community.

03

Agenda of Action

Community Units in large groups must have an agenda of action with them which must include: education, issuing pamphlets, flyers, community reports, or other program related agendas including fundraising events.

04

Dress Code

Community leaders must be dressed in a leadership garment if they are on probation to ensure the gang culture is not being used by leaders that have promised change. The leaders can have shirts, jackets, hoodies, etc. with logos stating their leadership status visible for sheriffs/Officers at all times in Communities when interacting with one another while on probation.
